I don't usually write the title until the post is finished. This time I wrote the title first.

A few days ago I heard something that enraged me so much that I knew I would be able to write an amazing post on the topic. It must not have been that dear to me because today when I woke up to write about it I couldn't remember what it was.... Something miraculous just happened.
I JUST REMEMBERED.

So I'm going to college right now and I'm paying a ridiculous amount for tuition and books. My parking pass this year alone is about $250. WTF Lloyd?!?! Fortunately the good ole University of Toledo didn't raise tuition this year. Unfortunately I had no money saved up for college, so I'm still taking out a sweet amount of student loans. (By sweet I actually mean not sweet at all.) Anyway, I have a friend who is 19 and she is getting tuition paid by the government. You may be thinking, "Chassidy, a lot of people get scholarships for college. Just because you pissed 2 years of high school away and didn't get any doesn't mean you should be mad at her."

WRONG!

She's getting free tuition for 4 years because of two words, insignificant in meaning when alone, but together they are worth....well a college education. Are you ready?

Single and Baby.

That's right. She was irresponsible during high school and had a child. Now she's a single mom, so the government is paying for school. A few months ago I would have said, "Wow! Cindy* that's great. It's wonderful that you're getting assistance. Now you can provide for little Tommy."

Regrettably my opinion has changed and it's not for the better. Now I feel like saying, "Wow! Cindy maybe if you would have been more responsible and used protection my tax money would be paying for MY education and not YOURS."

Of course I would never want to hurt Cindy with this, but I'm also not being caddy and saying it behind her back. If the topic came up in conversation I would most definitely bring it up. Maybe I'm just being a grempy grumper, as Grandma used to say. Or maybe the reality of paying bills is just hitting me. Either way I feel as though the government is, yet again, being ridiculous. I love using examples, so to me it's like saying, "Oh Frankie, that's OK that you just hit Johnny in the face. Would you like to go to the toy store?"

Well on a lighter note I am in love with David Beckham and if I could some how meet him I would gladly pay for Cindy's tuition out of my own pocket. I just saw that they have a Beckham Calender and remember I just moved into my new apartment and that would be a perfect house warming gift.
(After reading that sentence a few times I've decided that you have to emphasize the word remember for it to really make sense.)
*I changed Cindy and Tommy's names.
